What to Expect
Tucked into the ridge of Marula Hill, Summerhill is a secluded self-catering home designed for gathering. Sleeping up to 12 guests, this elegant bush retreat offers uninterrupted views of the reserve, best enjoyed from the spacious deck where wildlife often wanders by.
Inside, four standalone cottages each offer a king-sized bed (convertible to singles), en-suite bathroom, and a private kitchenette with tea-and-coffee-making facilities. Rooms 2 and 4 also include adjoining spaces that sleep two extra guests each, making them perfect for families or friends traveling together. Every room is finished with 100% cotton linen and fresh towels for your comfort.
At the heart of Summerhill is a generous open-plan lounge, kitchen, and dining area. It’s ideal for long, fire-lit meals or relaxed afternoons on the stoep. While the bedrooms are detached for privacy, this shared space brings everyone together.
Outside, a swimming pool is set into the deck, alongside a wood-fired Kol Kol hot tub, perfect for starlit soaks after a day on the trails. There’s also both an indoor and outdoor braai area, giving you the freedom to cook and connect no matter the weather.
Summerhill is fully solar powered, so you can enjoy your stay with peace of mind, knowing your comfort is powered by the sun.
| Dining at Summerplace is part of the experience. Our on-site restaurant is led by award-winning chef and chocolatier Dylan Jonsson. Known for bold, honest flavours and beautifully plated dishes, Dylan brings a creative edge to every meal — from handmade pastas to unforgettable desserts.
Walk-ins welcome Breakfasts, lunches, and wood-fired pizzas are served daily at the Summerplace Restaurant. No booking is needed — just stop by, take a seat, and enjoy. Signature three-course dinner For something more indulgent, prebook our chef-curated three-course dinner. This seasonal showcase features local ingredients and thoughtful plating inspired by the bushveld. Please book at least 24 hours in advance to ensure the freshest preparation. Dinners may be delivered to your accommodation depending on group size. | By signing the guest registration form, you confirm that you’re authorized to act on behalf of all guests in your party. If not, you agree to accept personal responsibility for any costs incurred during your stay.
Only registered and paid-for guests may occupy the accommodation. To ensure comfort and safety, the total number of guests may not exceed the unit’s specified capacity. Non-compliance may result in the party being asked to vacate the property. Check-in and check-out Check-in is from 2:00 PM, and check-out is by 10:00 AM unless otherwise arranged. Please aim to arrive before 6:30 PM, as the main gate will be locked between 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM for security reasons. To help us prepare for your arrival, please share your live location en route. Responsibility and damages Guests are responsible for any loss, damage, or breakages to the property or its contents. If applicable, a security deposit may be used to cover these, but any shortfall will be recovered from the individual who signed the registration form. You are also responsible for the conduct of all members of your party. In the event of disruptive or unacceptable behavior, Summerplace reserves the right to ask the group to vacate the property without refund. We kindly ask all guests to: • Keep their space clean and tidy during their stay • Allow Summerplace staff reasonable access to the unit if needed • Not sublet or share the unit with unregistered guests • Park in designated areas only and avoid driving on the lawn or through gardens Noise and music: No loud music is permitted on the property. All music must be played indoors and at a respectful volume. Failure to comply with this policy may result in your party being asked to leave the property with no refund. Valuables Summerplace Game Reserve and its owners are not liable for the loss or damage of any valuables or personal property. | As a small and exclusive reserve, each booking is important to us. Once a unit is reserved, it is removed from availability on all platforms. For this reason, we have a strict cancellation policy in place to protect our team and business from lost bookings.
Please note: All bookings made via email or phone are considered confirmed and binding. A cancellation — for any reason — will result in the guest being held liable for the full amount of the booking, even if a deposit has not yet been paid. Cancellation fees: • 15 to 21 days prior to arrival: 50% of the total accommodation cost • 8 to 14 days prior to arrival: 75% of the total accommodation cost • 0 to 7 days prior to arrival: 100% of the total accommodation cost • Non-arrival or early departure: 100% of the total accommodation cost We recommend that guests obtain travel insurance to cover any unexpected changes. |
| Please let us know your expected arrival time via WhatsApp before your stay. For security reasons, the main gate is locked at 7:00 PM, so we kindly ask that all guests arrive well in advance.
Special requests and meal bookings can be arranged ahead of time — simply contact us via WhatsApp. All special requests are subject to availability and may carry additional charges. Upon arrival, guests will be asked to: • Present valid photo identification and the credit card used to secure the booking • Sign a standard indemnity form (this may also be completed in advance) • Settle any outstanding balances before check-in Please note: Summerplace is a noise-sensitive environment.
